Warehouse Management

WM
Warehouse Management

Module description

Warehouse management in cable manufacturing has specific requirements that generic systems do not cover. Cables are stored on drums of varying lengths, material undergoes cutting and packaging, and regulations require complete traceability from receipt to dispatch.

The WM module tracks materials across warehouses and locations, including batches and statuses (under inspection, blocked, released). It supports consignment warehouses for both suppliers and customers, as well as returnable packaging management. Every movement is recorded and linked to accounting documents.

Full traceability extends from raw material receipt through every production operation to finished product dispatch. In case of a complaint, the complete history can be traced, including data from the production process.

  • Consignment stock and returnable packaging status.

Cable manufacturing challenges this module solves

Cable manufacturing works with material on drums that is cut to required lengths. Generic warehouse systems do not support cutting or remnant tracking. Traceability ends at the goods receipt level, not at the specific production operation.

Without production integration, packed batches cannot be consumed directly in the manufacturing process -- they must first be administratively unpacked. Stocktaking requires a stable network connection, which is often not feasible in large production halls.

Consignment stock and returnable packaging are tracked outside the main system, leading to inaccuracies and manual reconciliation.

Module advantages

  • Precise material tracking at the batch and location level.
  • Complete traceability to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Stocktaking without production interruption thanks to the mobile application.
  • Automatic linking of warehouse movements to accounting.
  • Efficient management of cable cutting and remnants.

FAQs

How does the system handle cutting cables on drums?

When cutting, new batches are created with length records. The system tracks the original drum and all its parts, including remnants.

Can stocktaking be performed without interrupting production?

Yes. The mobile application enables stocktaking by location without the need to halt operations. The system continuously matches scanned items against the inventory records.

Does the mobile application work without Wi-Fi?

The application works partially offline. Data is synchronized as soon as a connection is available. Full production hall coverage is not required.

How does blocking of non-conforming material work?

Material can be blocked at goods receipt or at any time during storage. Blocked material cannot be issued to production without release.

Does the system support multiple warehouses?

Yes. The system supports any number of warehouses with their own location structure. Transfers between warehouses are fully tracked.

How does the integration with accounting work?

Each type of warehouse movement has defined accounting rules. Accounting documents are generated automatically upon movement confirmation.

Can returnable packaging be tracked?

Yes. The system tracks the circulation of returnable packaging, including their status and location at customers or suppliers.

How detailed is the traceability?

Traceability covers material receipt, all production operations including measured values, packaging, and dispatch. The complete history can be traced when needed.
